Lakshmanjoo
An unbroken chain of supreme awareness, preserved for humanity.

An unbroken chain of supreme awareness, preserved for humanity.

God and the individual are one.
To realize this is the essence of Kashmir Shaivism.
Born on May 9, 1907, in Srinagar, Kashmir, Swami Lakshman Joo Raina emerged as the most recent guiding light of the ancient Kashmir Shaiva tradition. His parents, Pandit Narain Dass Raina—a pioneer known for introducing houseboats to Kashmir—and Arnimal, recognized his divine nature early on.
From the tender age of three, his profound spiritual inclination was evident as he spent his days creating and worshipping Shiva-lingams made of clay. This early immersion in divine play foreshadowed a life entirely dedicated to the highest states of consciousness.
He was later initiated by his revered master, Swami Mahatabakak, becoming the ultimate custodian of the profound, non-dualistic Trika philosophy, entrusted with preventing these sacred texts from being lost to time.
The Journey of Awareness
Born in Srinagar to a devoted family. His early years were marked by spontaneous states of meditation and an innate understanding of the divine.
Initiated by Swami Mahatabakak, a direct disciple of Swami Ram Tirtha. He immersed himself in the intensive study of the Trika philosophy, mastering the sacred oral tradition.
At age 31, Swamiji undertook a 'Maun' (silent) pilgrimage across India. He sought to confirm his spiritual realizations by interacting with other recognized saints.
Established the ashram in Srinagar. He began holding regular classes for seekers worldwide, translating dense texts into accessible wisdom and writing pivotal papers.
Swamiji left his mortal frame, but his presence remains omnipresent. He left behind a vast archive of recorded lectures and clear guidelines to continue his mission.
Swami Lakshmanjoo dedicated his life to translating and explaining the dense, secretive texts of Kashmir Shaivism. His recorded lectures and published books remain the most authentic gateway to understanding this supreme non-dual reality.
