The philosopher saint Swami Lakshmanjoo chose to reveal the Paramarthasara, The Essence of the Supreme Reality because, as the author Abhinavagupta tells us, this text contains the complete essence of the teachings of the long-concealed non-dual philosophical tradition known as Kashmir Shaivism. Originally a work of Patanjali, Abhinavagupta chose to revise and update this revered text in order to reveal the profundities of the Kashmir Shaivite doctrine in just one hundred verses.
